Ten Tuesday Things

Ha! No, not ten. Although I have at least ten things I could draw from for a blog post since I last wrote. First LJ went down, down, DOWN. Almost utterly for me. A few times last week I checked in and saw others posting, others leaving comments even, but alas! It was not meant for me.

Then houseguests arrived here, chez Dot, and they often keep me from my beloved internets. But they are gone and here I am.

I did manage one writing/internet related thing while they were here. I’m sure some of you have read about the YA authors booksigning that was at Joseph-Beth here in Cincy on Sat. I managed to drop by it briefly and even though I took pics, my pics are lame. So here are some from Saundra Mitchell The best thing about this event for me was seeing sbennettwealer up there at the author table. We’ve gone to that store together for other writers’ signings and there was SARA! Woo!

What else should I talk about in this, my first August post? I don’t know! I feel kind of discombobulated. So how about a few pics? I took the kids to the art museum and Andy and I geeked out a bit with the angel statues:

See how carefully he is NOT blinking?

And have you heard of Graeter’s ice cream, aka the best store-bought ice cream in the world? Well, one of the reasons it is so awesome is the size of the chocolate chips. Check it out:

Do you see that one in the foreground? It’s a big as a candy bar!

Mmmm, ice cream sounds good today . . . *wanders off*

  1. Oh, and Dot, your second photo is incomplete for some reason.

  2. Do you mean, me? I will move in? Ha! For all you know, that may be her plan. Then she will put me under some kind of spell so I will bake for her everyday. :D

  3. I have seen that painting, and that’s cool that you’ve been there.
How is my pic cut off for you? It looks fine to me on all my many computers and browsers, heh.

    • It’s weird; I see the top third. Only when I click on it a couple of times do I see the entire picture. Oh, and I’m using the most current version of Firefox, for what it’s worth.

  4. Oh, and I don’t know if you’re aware of it, but Graeter’s only started showing up in grocery stores back in the early 90′s. Until then, if you wanted Graeter’s you had to get a cone or dish at one of the stores around town.
There aren’t very many of their old stores around, like the ones in Clifton or in Hyde Park. The one at the Western Hills shopping center relocated near the Western Bowl; where the space used to be is incorporated into a Bed Bath and Beyond now.

    • Heh, by store-bought I meant not homemade. As in actually home-made, not the UDF brand of ice cream.
And I’m not going to even tell you how long it took me to figure out your comment.
      *sips more wine*

  5. I can’t eat ice cream, and sometimes I crave it madly. Like now. Drool. Thanks Dot.

  6. Those look like the chips that were in the ice cream at the place we went to the other day – huge!! Sadly, we don’t have that store brand here in IL.
I love that top pic BTW!

  7. My friend eats Graeter’s (she’s from Ohio; is it an Ohio brand?). It does look luscious. She’s told me about it but this is the first picture I’ve seen.

  8. Thanks! And if you ever get a chance to eat Graeter’s, Do EET.

  9. That is the coolest pic of your son, Andy. Love it!
